Get E-Mail News Alerts on Any Topic

My daughter is allergic to nuts, so I'm always interested in reading the latest news about product recalls, medical research, and other stories related to nut allergies. Now, I could search Google* News for breaking articles, but doing that on a daily basis is tedious and I would quickly give it up.
Fortunately, there's a better way, which meshes perfectly with my lazy ways: Google News Alerts. This free service e-mails me links to stories about nut allergies as soon as Google becomes aware of them.
To set up your own Google news alert:
- Visit news.google.com
- Type a search term, such as "meteorite," and then click the Search button.
- When
the results appear, click the News Alerts link in the left column.
This takes you to a page where you can customize an alert by specifying the news source (I choose "Comprehensive", which finds news articles within blogs as well as online newspapers), how often you want to be alerted to new articles (I choose "as-it-happens," but you might prefer once a day or once a week), and the e-mail address where you want the stories sent - Click Create Alert and you're done.
From now on, fresh news stories about the subjects you're interested in will be delivered straight to your inbox. You can create your own custom newspaper this way.
If you ever want to cancel a particular alert, visit www.google.com/alerts/manage.
