Find Websites You Might Like with inSuggest*
By Mark Frauenfelder June 20, 2008
Insuggest is a site that finds websites and images you might be interested in based on other websites you already like. It's a neat way to supplement your regular search engine research.
Here's how inSuggest works. Say, for instance, you want to learn about raised bed vegetable gardening. First, visit your favorite search engine and enter "raised bed gardening" (with or without the quotes). When you find a site that looks good, copy the address to your clipboard. (Note that inSuggest includes a decent search engine that you can use to complete this step.)
Then, go to web.insuggest.com and click the "Website suggestions" tab. Copy the address into the field marked "Enter a website you like" at the top of the window. inSuggest will then display a number of related websites in the form of thumbnail images. When you drag these images into the gray rectangles near the top of the window, inSuggest will refine its search results.
The neat thing about inSuggest is the way it finds sites that are indirectly related to what you are looking for. My search for raised bed gardening led me to sites about composting tumblers, which I'm also interested in.
inSuggest also helps you find photos and images you might like from Flickr.com, and bookmarks you might like from del.icio.us (see A Delicious Way to Bookmark Your Favorite Web Sites).
