Use Your Digital Photos as Your Screen Saver
Online Lifestyle
Taking snapshots with my digital camera is no problem. Snap-snap, all the time. Getting the photos from my camera to my computer-I can do that, too. Problem is, there they often stay, languishing in my Pictures folder. I always mean to upload them to a photo sharing site (I use Flickr, but Shutterfly is popular with my family), but I often get sidetracked before finishing the job. My stopgap solution? Thanks to a Parent Hacks reader tip, I now point my computer's screen saver at my Pictures folder so we get an ongoing slide show whenever the computer's idle.

It's no doubt that I can get lost on Flickr just moving from one photo to the next. New to Flickr now is video where pro account members can upload video with a 90 second time limit.
How to Set Up Instant Messaging
Online Lifestyle
Sure, e-mail is a great way to connect with friends and family. It's free, quick, and best of all it's easy. However, much like sending a letter through the mail, with e-mail you usually have to wait awhile for a response. What if you could chat with someone, much like you do on the phone, and get a response back in an instant? Instant messaging, or IM, lets you have conversations like this with friends and family anywhere in the world, and you won't have to cash in the kids' college tuition to cover phone bills. It only takes a few minutes to set up and you can choose from many IM providers.
Sending Digital Photos By E-mail
Online Lifestyle
With a few clicks of your mouse, you can send an image to anyone who has an email account. Although attaching a digital photo to an email message is really simple, the process sometimes breaks down due to differences in email programs and how files are handled on the Mac versus the PC. Also, newcomers to the world of electronic mail often get confused about how to view and send images – which isn't surprising, given that email software often makes the process less than intuitive.
Roles People Play When Using Wikis
Online Lifestyle
If you look at any successful wiki community, whether it be Wikipedia or an internal wiki inside a company, you will find many different people playing many roles. With a wiki, whatever your inclination, there is always a way for everyone to chip in and add his and her special talent or knowledge to the mix. Here are a few possibilities.
Reader/Researcher
The most common role that most of us play when interacting with wikis is that of a reader or researcher. We want to find out something, so we use our favorite search engine and are directed to a wiki.More Online Lifestyle How To's & More
